PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a package manufacturing method capable of welding a whole periphery of a metal cap in uniform airtightness and having high reliability without a welding defect. SOLUTION: In a package manufacturing method by which a flange part 2 of a metal cap 3 having the flange part to a square opening 1 formed by drawing is pressure-contacted to a peripheral surface of a metal base 4 and then subjected to resistance welding, the partial toughness at the section corresponding to an opening square part 1a is made smaller than the that at the section corresponding to an opening straight part 1b, after the flange part 2 of the metal cap 3 is pressure-contacted to a peripheral surface of a metal base 4 or a corner part 1a and then is subjected to resistance welding, the straight section 1b is welded.
