PURPOSE: A controlling method and device for a gas leakage alarming and blocking device are provided to block the driving power applied to a motor driving unit by detecting a stopped state of the motor driving unit and to prevent the damage on a motor and neighboring control circuits by precisely controlling the motor driving unit. CONSTITUTION: An opening and closing command is detected by switch input. Then, a motor(M) is driven toward an opening or closing direction. Then, the voltages at both ends of the motor are detected. The voltages are converted into currents for inputting into a microcomputer. And the voltages at both ends of the motor are detected in a stopped state of the motor. After converting the voltages into currents, the change in the currents is calculated. If the level of the currents is zero, a power supply passage of a control unit(16) toward the motor in a motor driving unit(18) is blocked.
