In photographic material with Ag halide (AgX) emulsion layers and opt. spacer layer(s) and/or a protection layer on a base, at least one of these layers contains a UV absorber, which is an homopolymer of a 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-4,6-diaryl-1,3,5-triazine of formula (I), a copolymer of at least 2 different cpds. (I) or a copolymer of cpd(s), (I) and other ethylenically unsatd. cpd(s).. - In the formulae, E1 and E2 are each gps. of formula (IIA) or (IIB); R1 is e.g. -A, -CH2-CH(XA)-CH2-O-R7, -CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-XA, -C(=O)-(CH2)q-CH=CH2 or a gp. of formula (IIIA) or (IIIB); A is -C(=O)-CR5=CH-R6; R2 is H, 1-12C alkyl, 5-12C cycloalkyl, 3-6C alkenyl, halogen, phenyl or CF3; R2' is 1-18C alkoxy, 3-18C alkenoxy, -OH or -OA; R3 and R3' are each H, -OH, -OR1, 1-18C alkyl, 3-18C alkenyl, 6-12C cycloalkyl, halogen, CF3, phenyl, phenyl-(1-4C)-alkyl, -CN, 1-18C alkyl-S(=O)t- or phenyl-S(=O)t-; R4, R'4, R''4 are each H, 1-18C alkyl, 3-6C alkenyl, halogen, CF3, phenyl, phenyl-(1-4C)-alkyl, opt. with mono- to tri-substd. by 1-4C alkyl, -CN, 1-18C alkyl-S(=O)t- or phenyl-S(=O)t-; R5 is e.g. H, 1-4C alkyl or CN; R6 is e.g. H, 1-17C alkyl or phenyl; R7 is e.g. 1-18C alkyl, 5-12C cycloalkyl, 3-18C alkenyl, phenyl-(1-4C)-alkyl, 3-50C alkyl with one or more -O- in the chain, 1- or 2-adamantyl, norbornyl, norbornan-2-methyl or -A; R14 and R15 are each e.g. H, 1-18C alkyl, 3-18C alkenyl, 6-12C cycloalkyl, halogen, CF3, phenyl, phenyl-(1-4C)-alkyl, -CN or 1-18C alkyl-S(=O)t-; X is -O-, -NH-(CnH2n)-NH- or -O-(CkH2k)-NH-; k = 2-4; l = 0-19; m = 2-8; n = 0-4; q = 1-8; r = 0-18; and t = 0, 1 or 2. - Also claimed are (i) photographic material in which the UV absorber is a cpd. (IA) of formula (I) with specified substits.; (ii) use of (IA) or a (co)polymer of (I) as UV stabiliser in photographic material; and (iii) a method for protecting the material with (IA) or a (co)polymer of (I).
