PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting mechanism of a connector with which connectors are connected to each other with ease in the connecting operation by utilizing a rotation of a lever accompanied by the sliding movement of a slide member. SOLUTION: A lever 14 is supported turnably at a female connector 11, and inserting force is reduced by the rotation of the lever 14 which is in a state of being engaged to a tongue 29b of an engaged part 29 installed at a male connector 16, in accordance with the movement of a slide member 13 against the female connector 11. When the slide member 13 is in a state of being completely drawn out from the female connector 11, an engaging protrusion 14g of the lever 14 is engaged to an engaging nail 26a of an elastic arm 26, on this occasion, although the lever 14 is kept in the same position, as a protrusion 29a of the engaged part 29 makes an elastic arm 26 deform by bending, the state of holding is released and the lever 14 becomes rotatable.
