PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain color selection electrodes that can realize weight reduction of frame, while avoiding deterioration in image quality caused by the vibration of fine metal stripes and a cathode-ray tube that employs the color selection electrodes. SOLUTION: On the rear surface of each fine metal stripes 4 on a side opposite to that, having contact with damper wire 8a and 8b, grooves 10 with a length L are respectively provided in the lower region below the center P of fine metal stripes 4 with respect to the Y direction. With this provision, vibration loop of fine metal stripes 4 shifts from the center P to the side of the damper wire 8b, and the vibration amplitude of the fine metal stripes 4 is restrained.
