PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for developing a black-and-white silver halide photographic sensitive material in which photographic performance is hardly varied even under slight replenishment, little unevenness is caused even in exposure with an image setter and a developing solution is hardly contaminated. SOLUTION: A photosensitive material in which the same or different silver halide emulsion layers provided on the substrate contain at least two kinds of silver halide emulsion having different sensitivities and at least one non- photosensitive hydrophilic colloidal layer contains non-photosensitive silver halide grains is continuously processed with a developing solution of pH 9.0-11.0 containing a compound of formula 1 (wherein at least one of R1-R4 is -SM, M is H or an alkali metal and the remainders are each H, halogen or other monovalent group but R1 and R3 are not OH) under replenishment with <=323 ml/m2 replenisher solution.
