PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL display element which has a good adhesion characteristic with sealing layer or adhesives and has an extraction section of a first and a second electrode line with a lower resistance. SOLUTION: A substrate for an organic elctroluminescent display element comprising a plurality of a first electrode line 2A and a plurality of a second electrode line 5A sandwiching a luminescence medium and crossing each other on an insulation substrate 1, wherein the first electrode lines and the extraction sections 2B of the first electrode lines and the second electrode lines are formed on the insulating substrate, and furthermore, aforesaid extraction sections of the first electrode lines and the second electrode lines are constituted by using a metal, such as Al, Cu, Cr, Ta, Mo, W, Ni, Ti, Au, and Ag, etc.
