Non-adherent wound dressing

A non-adherent wound dressing is described. The wound dressing comprises; (a) sodium polyacrylate superabsorbent powder sandwiched between two layers of cellulose material, (b) a polypropylene non-woven larger in size than said sodium polyacrylate superabsorbent powder layer, and overlying a wound-facing surface of said sodium polyacrylate superabsorbent powder layer, such that a portion of said polypropylene non-woven extends beyond the length and width of said sodium polyacrylate superabsorbent powder layer, (c) a polyurethane film which is larger in size than said sodium polyacrylate powder layer, but generally no greater in size than said polypropylene non-woven and, (d) a cohesive layer of a hydrocolloid adhesive generally being substantially the size and shape of the polyurethane film which is adhered to its non-wound facing surface. A method of treating a wound which comprises applying the abovementioned dressing to the wound is also described.
