The ignition switch has a rotor with a spring-loaded securing element for blocking the withdrawal of the key from the rotor when rotated back into its initial position by engaging a recess in the key. The securing element and key interact via inclined surfaces so the securing element can move out of the recess when the key is withdrawn and the electromagnet interacts with a blocking element movable between first and second positions in a stator. The ignition switch has a rotor (3) with a spring-loaded securing element (8) for blocking the withdrawal of the key (2) from the rotor when rotated back into its initial position by engaging a recess in the key. An electromagnet (10) releases the block if the vehicle is stationary and secured against rolling away. The securing element and key interact via inclined surfaces so the securing element can move out of the recess when the key is withdrawn and the electromagnet interacts with a blocking element (9) movable between first and second positions in a stator.
