A method and system for buying and selling collectible spirits, such as fine wines. The method and system include providing an on-line exchange (40) for trading the collectible spirits, and providing a spirit index (54) that charts investment performance of the collectible spirits. The method and system further include allowing both businesses and private consumers to access the on-line exchange and the spirit index in order to perform trades. At least one storage facility (44) is also provided for storing and distributing a portion of the collectible spirits being traded.
