The tailgate has a strip-form peripheral sealing surface (3) acting via an intermediate bulge (4) with a counter-surface on the vehicle. A cable set (7) is laid on the inside of the tailgate, crossing the sealing surface. There is a trough (6) in the region of the sealing surface in the inner surface (2) of the tailgate in which the crossing part of the cable set is laid.
