HOME NETWORKING USING EXISTING DSL EQUIPMENT

A method and apparatus for reusing existing digital subscriber line equipment for home networking is disclosed. Session establishment and physical layer signaling techniques for providing a connection between customer premise digital subscriber line equipment and a central office are adapted for home networking between customer premise equipment. Due to the reuse of existing digital subscriber line equipment, a substantial convenience and cost savings can be attained.
