The apparatus includes an LED array (12) for generating a light beam, which is divided into two polarized beams and deflected to respective LCD modulators. The first modulator (90) rotates the polarization, to produce a first modulated polarized beam. The second LCD modulator (95) rotates the polarization to produce a second polarized beam. A printing lens focuses the two modulated beams onto a printing medium.
