Separation of proteins, particularly enzymes, from bacterial culture filtrates or plant or animal tissue extracts by precipitation with synthetic tanning materials according to Main Patent DT 1 642 619, is carried out with quantitative yields of enzyme-tanning material adduct by the present disclosure, in which salts of organic and/or inorganic acids or bases are added when using synthetic tanning materials. Salts of monovalent cations and mono- or polyvalent anions are used predominantly with anionic tanning materials, and salts of monovalent anions and mono- or polyvalent cations are used with cationic tanning materials.
