PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an excellent corrosion preventive having high corrosion preventing performance to copper and to provide a copper corrosion preventing method. SOLUTION: This copper corrosion preventive contains a pyridinium compound as effective components, and, by adding an effective amount of copper corrosion preventive containing a pyridinium compound to a water system, copper corrosion considered as microbial corrosion is effectively prevented by the preventive alone, and moreover, general copper corrosion in which microorganisms are not precipitated can remarkably by suppressed.
