Very thin fibres are produced by first spinning multi-component fibres by conventional methods, and separating the individual components. In a pref. process, a fibre having a core surrounded by a concentric sheath is spun, and the sheath removed by dissolving or melting. Example describes spinning fibre with polyamide core and polyvinyl chloride sheath, and dissolving the sheath by introducing the fibre into an acetone solution. |
