PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display device having good display performance and capable of preventing reduction of the yield in manufacture. CONSTITUTION: In the liquid crystal display device provided with an array substrate 100 having a wiring part formed on one principal plane, a counter substrate 200 disposed to face oppositely to the array substrate 100, cylindrical spacers 140 for forming a prescribed gap between the array substrate 100 and the counter substrate 200 and a liquid crystal layer 300 disposed in the prescribed gap formed by the cylindrical spacers 140, the cylindrical spacer 140 has a contracted part 141 on its side face and a part 142 having the maximum diameter and positioned at a part higher than the contracted part 141 in the height direction is positioned at a part lower than the tip position of the spacer.
