PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a pointer instrument for a vehicle attractive having interest and innovation by devising the display tone of its light emitting pointer. SOLUTION: A metallic shading layer 20b is formed on the top surface and outer peripheral surface of the pointer main body of the light emitting pointer 20. This metallic shading layer 20b has a slit 25. On the reverse surface pf the pointer part of the light emitting pointer 20, a red reflecting layer 20c is formed. Consequently, light which is guided in the pointer main body is reflected by the reflecting layer 20c, passed through the slit 25, and is projected as red light. The light emitting pointer 20 is viewed in the metallic tone of the metallic shading layer 20b when the light is not guided in the pointer main body and with the luminance of red of the slit 25 when the light is guided in.
