PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an elliptically polarizing plate suited for TN(twisted nematic) liquid crystal cell. SOLUTION: In an elliptic polarizing plate having a first optically anisotropic layer, a second optically anisotropic layer, a polarizing film and a transparent protection film, the first optically anisotropic layer is formed as a layer with an angle between the largest refractive index direction and the layer plane of >=5 deg. and <85 deg. and the second optically anisotropic layer is formed as a layer with an angle between the largest refractive index direction and the layer plane of >=0 deg. and <5 deg. and with an optically positive uniaxial property. |
