PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recorder and a data reproducing device capable of reading and writing both C1 sequence and C2 sequence at a high speed even when using a memory of one bank. SOLUTION: This device is provided with means 51 and 52 for defining that the prescribed number of imaginary data predetermined for the respective C1 sequences are present at the head of the data of a C1 direction, rearranging the prescribed unit of data groups successive in the C1 direction into a matrix shape, arranging the rearranged respective data groups for the data belonging to the same C1 sequence at different row addresses on the memory 6 and arranging the rearranged respective data groups including the data belonging to the same C2 sequence at the same row address on the memory, the means 52 for selecting only the data required for error correction coding among the data arranged at the respective row addresses on the memory 6 and the means for linearly rearranging the selected data and outputting them to the error correction coding means 51.
