PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system, where an intermittent drive time interval for a PHS terminal is switched so as to enhance customer service and reduce a PHS terminal maintenance cost. SOLUTION: As soon as a gas plug closing command is sent, an intermittent drive time interval of a PHS terminal is switched from a time t1 (e.g., 6 hours) to a time t2 (e.g., 15 minutes), to reduce the waiting time. When receiving a gas plug open command, the plug opening processing is conducted in a comparatively short time to enhance the customer service performance. In a normal waiting state, the intermittent drive time interval is selected to be the time t1, so as to reduce the PHS terminal maintenance cost. When the intermittent drive time interval is selected to be the time t2 and no gas plug open command comes, even after the lapse of a prescribed time t4 (e.g., 3 days), the intermittent drive time interval is restored again to the time t1, to save power consumption of the PHS terminal. |
