PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor, having a structure where a large capacitor element can be integrated into a small package. SOLUTION: In this structure of a solid electrolytic capacitor, there is formed a rectangular parallelepiped capacitor element 1 where its anode is formed by embedding one-end portion of an anode lead 11 in the sintered body, made of a valve-action metal from one wall-surface thereof and its cathode 12, is formed on the sidewall of the sintered body. Also, the anode lead 11 is welded to a first external lead 2, and cathode 12 is connected electrically with a plate- form second external lead 3, and the surroundings of the capacitor element 1 and its connection portions are covered with a package 5. Furthermore, for the surfaces of the plate-form first and second external leads 2, 3, there is removed a corner portion C of a sidewall B to be the rear surface of the capacitor element 1, which is located on the side opposite to the anode lead 11 (on the bottom-surface side of the capacitor element 1).
