<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber amplifier, having a high gain of optical amplification and an optical fiber for amplification suitably employed therein. SOLUTION: This optical fiber amplifier 1 comprises an optical fiber 10 for amplification, pumping light sources 21, 22 outputting pumping light, optical fibers 31, 32 through which the pumping light propagates, and photocouplers 41, 42 for supplying the pumping light propagated through the optical fibers 31, 32 to the optical fiber 10 for amplification. The optical fiber 10 can amplify a signal light optically upon receiving the pumping light. A cut-off wavelengthλc of the optical fiber 10 for amplification is shorter than the wavelengthλs of the signal light and longer than the wavelengthλp of the pumping light.</p> |
