SYSTEM FOR CAPTURING TEXT INFORMATION ON RECORDED MEDIUM AND REPRODUCING SYSTEM

A system for reading subtitles displayed along with the main picture, storing, reading, and displaying them, and reproducing video from the corresponding scene. Sub-pictures and time codes recorded on a DVD disk are read or extracted by a DVD reproducing software program (3). The subtitles in the sub-pictures are extracted by a read software program (6), and stored along with the time codes on a hard disk (5). The stored subtitles together with the time codes are read by a read software program (7) and displayed on a monitor (41). The read software program (7) allows the DVD reproducing software program (3) to reproduce a DVD video from the scene corresponding to the subtitle selected from among the displayed subtitles by the user.
