<p>A system for the mitigation of cable stay vibrations, typically induced by wind and rain, utilizes a plurality of active damper bands (12, 42) positioned along the cable stay (14). Each damper band (12, 42) includes a shiftable mass (28, 46) and an energizing device (30) for facilitating assisted shifting of the mass (28, 46). A control assembly (72) can actuate all or selected ones of the energizing devices (30) in response to sensed magnitudes of cable stay vibration.</p> |
