1,220,097. Making metal / oxygen cells. ENERGY CONVERSION Ltd. 1 April 1969, No. 40544/70. Divided out of 1,220,096. Heading H1B. A method of making a metal/oxygen battery comprises applying two spaced apart cathode layers, one adjacent one edge and one generally centrally disposed on one face of an air-permeable sheet of electrically conductive material, applying an anode layer on each surface adjacent the edge opposed to said one edge, applying electrolyte resistant absorbent material to the outer surfaces of the anode, folding the sheet to a generally S-shaped configuration and interleaving with a further similarly folded sheet so that the two cathode layers which face one another have the anode layers on the other sheet therebetween, and positioning an air-permeable, electrically insulating separator between adjacent uncoated surfaces of the sheets. The coating may take place on a continuous web of material which is then cut into sheets. |
