A slotting cutter (10) including a support disc (12) rotatable in a predetermined direction on a central axis. The support disc (12) is of a generally cylindrical shape having a first side (50) and a second side (46), and an outer periphery (14). A plurality of pockets (22) are staggered about the outer periphery (14) of the support disc (12) and includes a cutting insert (24) secured in each pocket. Each cutting insert (24) includes at lea st one cutting edge (40).
