PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a magnesium alloy chip having a desirable chip shape and providing a high productivity. SOLUTION: In manufacturing a magnesium alloy chip, grooves 3 are formed in a magnesium alloy plate 1 by feeding a tool 2 having a tip shape while pressing the tool against the alloy plate, a bending force is applied to the outer peripheral parts of the formed grooves 3 by a die 4 and a punch 5 so as to form split plates 6, and the split plates 6 are further divided into pieces so as to manufacture chips 7.
