PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material having a wide range of reflecting wave lengths, and a reflex color capable of being readily fixed. SOLUTION: This reversible recording material having at least a part constituted of a cholesteric liquid crystal-based recording material, and capable of carrying out the recording by fixing a required cholesteric reflex color by heating a part or the whole region of the recording material to a temperature at which the region shows an isotropic phase or a cholesteric liquid crystal phase, quenching the region to a temperature below the glass transition temperature thereof or carrying out the solidification by selecting the proper cooling rate according to the desired selected wave length to the temperature below the glass transition temperature is characterized by the cholesteric liquid crystal- based recording material which is a liquid crystal mixture obtained by mixing at least two kinds or more of compounds, and containing at least two compatible compounds therein.
