PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a motor from being driven by mistake and prevent a rod tip from being damaged in an electric reel. SOLUTION: This motor controller of the electric reel comprises a controlling part 20, an on-off operating part 6 and a malfunction preventing means 50 in the motor controller of the electric reel capable of rotating a motor 12 by an electric power fed from a power source and thereby rotating a spool 10. The controlling part 20 controls the rotation of the motor 12. The on-off operating part 6 is connected to the controlling part 20, sends a signal to the controlling part 20 and thereby turns on or off the motor 12. The malfunction preventing means 50 validates or invalidates the signal sent from the on-off operating part 6 to the controlling part 20 by a posture of the electric reel.
