Trazodone hydrochloride and process for its preparation

A trazodone hydrochloride having an average particle size≥10 mu m. A process for controlling the particle size of the trazodone hydrochloride comprising dissolving the trazodone base in an organic solvent and adding water and hydrochloric acid in which the amount of water is of at least 0.15 parts per each part by weight of the trazodone base to that solution.
