PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the assembling work efficiency in a chair having the back constituted so as to perform rocking operation by being rotatably supported by a support, a regulating mechanism for regulating a rocking operation range of this back between a prescribed forward tilting using attitude and a backward tilting using attitude and an elastic body being arranged between the back and the support and trying to move the back to the forward tilting using attitude side by elastic restoring force. SOLUTION: Among constitutive elements of a regulating mechanism, a front stopper 100 for regulating the back 2 to a forward tilting using attitude P can be selected in an operation mode capable of exhibiting a regulating function and a nonoperable mode unable to exhibit the regulating function, and when this front stopper part 100 is put in the nonoperable mode, the back 2 can be tilted forward by going over the forward tilting using attitude P up to an assembling attitude R where an elastic body 9 does not practically generate elastic restoring force.
