PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for medical treatment of which the configuration information need not be inputted again even if a trouble occurs and replacement is needed for a memory storing various kinds of configuration information. SOLUTION: Images provided by electronic endoscopes 2A, 2B are compressed by a compression expansion unit 3, transmitted to a control unit 4, recorded in a hard disk 16 inside the control unit 4, and form a database 17 with a searching function or the like. In the hard disk 16, there is stored the configuration information 18 such as configuration information 18a or the like for setting an identification number for each unit. The configuration information 18 is needed when the control unit 4 does a required control. The configuration information 18 is also stored in an EEPROM(electrically erasable programmable read-only memory) 41. The EEPROM 41 is provided in the compression expansion unit 3 and is an external unit of the control unit 4. The control unit 4 and the compression expansion unit 3 are connected through a communication line 9. If a trouble occurs and replacement is needed for the control unit 4, the configuration information 18 is read out form the EEPROM 41 and required operation can be done without inputting the information again.
