PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a such a filling method and a filling tool that a void occurring around a tatami mat can be simply inconspicuous and that small articles or the like are prevented from falling down thereinto. SOLUTION: By a method for filling in a void occurring in the side of a tatami mat, the same kind of sticking member as that of the tatami mat in that part is stuck on the side of the tatami mat having the void, and by a filling tool used for filling in the void occurring in the side of the tatami mat, the same kind of member at that of the tatatmi mat in that part is put at least on the top in the side of the tatami mat having the void.
