PURPOSE:To form a uniform dense structure and to obtain high corrosion resistance by impregnating a metal alkoxide into refractories contg. one or more kinds of refractory starting materials such as magnesia clinker, chrome ore and electromelted magnesia-chrome clinker. CONSTITUTION:A metal alkoxide such as aluminum alkoxide or zirconium alkoxide is impregnated into refractories obtd. by incorporating one or more kinds of refractory starting materials such as magnesia clinker, chrome ore and electromelted magnesia-chrome clinker, e.g. magnesia-chrome direct-bonded brick and then the impregnated refractories are cured for about 24hr, dried at about 150 deg.C for 24hr and fired at about 1,700 deg.C for about 5hr to produce basic refractories. |
