PURPOSE: A thickness sensing method of a printing paper of a printer is provided to precisely sense a thickness of a printing paper advanced between a transfer roller and a fusing roller regardless of an error of machining errors of outer diameters of paper supply rollers, thereby properly controlling a distance between the transfer roller and the fusing roller. CONSTITUTION: A thickness sensing method of a printing paper of a printer includes the steps of sensing a change amount of a distance between centers of a pair of paper supply rollers(71,72) according to rotation angles of the paper supply rollers sensed by a sensor(81) mounted adjacent to the paper supply rollers while the paper supply rollers contact each other for supplying a printing paper between a transfer roller and a fusing roller, sensing a change amount of the centers of the paper supply rollers according to rotation angles of the paper supply rollers sensed by the sensor when the printing paper passes through the paper supply rollers, and recognizing a thickness of the printing paper according to deviations of the change amounts sensed in the first and second steps.
