PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device incorporating a color filter and a method for manufacturing the same are to reduce the parasitic capacitance between a data interconnection and a pixel electrode, thereby providing high quality picture. CONSTITUTION: A first metal layer is formed on a substrate and is patterned to form a gate interconnection having a gate electrode. A color filter formed on the same layer is spaced apart from the gate interconnection. An insulating material, a semiconductor material and an impurity semiconductor material are formed on an entire surface and patterned to form the first insulating layer, a semiconductor layer and an impurity semiconductor layer. The semiconductor layer and the impurity semiconductor layer are patterned to form an active layer and an ohmic contact layer. The active layer is overlapped with the ohmic layer horizontally. A second metal layer is formed and patterned to form a data interconnection, a source electrode and a drain electrode. A passivation layer is deposited and patterned to form a drain contact hole(121) over the drain electrode. A transparent conductive metal is deposited on the passivation layer and the drain contact hole to thereby form a pixel electrode(135) connected with the drain electrode.
