PURPOSE: To provide a transmission device, equipped with an error processing function, which can recognize that a data CRC error occurs without reading all received data in and never malfunctions even if the data length is different from the length of an actual data part,, and an error processing method. CONSTITUTION: If an error is detected in a received packet, the error occurrence is reported to a host application and when not, the reception completion is reported to the host application. If a next packet is received while the packet whose error is detected is stored in a data storage area, an acknowledgement signal indicating that the reception can not be performed is sent back to the transmission source node and the error packet stored in the data storage area is made ineffective at a request from the host application. Or if the error is detected in the received packet, the packet stored in the data storage area is made ineffective.
