PURPOSE: To reduce deterioration of gloss even if a cross-linking agent is added and to enhance dispersibility, magnetostatic characteristics and electromagnetic conversion characteristics after a magnetic paint is applied in the method for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION: In a magnetic recording medium 10 having a magnetic layer 1 consisting essentially of magnetic powder and a bonding agent, a polyester polyurethane resin containing a propanediol derivative e.g. 2-butyl-2- ethyl-1,3-propanediol, etc., as a raw material is used as the bonding agent.
