PURPOSE: A texture searching method and its apparatus are provided to sort and search an object having the same texture regardless of patterns, by extracting a texture feature from a pattern of texture, storing the extracted feature, masking a target pattern to a reference texture that a user wants to search, extracting a texture feature in the manner described earlier and comparing the extracted features with one another. CONSTITUTION: The method receives pattern information of an inquiry image and masks a texture that a user wants to search to a target pattern. A feature of the search texture is extracted. A texture feature of each image data stored in a multimedia database is extracted in the manner described earlier. The extracted texture feature of the multimedia data is stored in a database. The texture feature of the inquired image and the extracted texture feature of the multimedia data stored in the database are compared from each other. The compared result is outputted.
