PURPOSE: To obtain a curable resin composition that comprises an aromatic diallyl compound, maleic diester, (meth)allyl carbonate and a radial chain transfer and gives optical material having excellent optical properties, mechanical properties, improved colorlessness and improved toughness of the cured product. CONSTITUTION: The objective resin composition comprises (A) an aromatic diallyl compound, for example, diallyl isophthalate or the like; (B) maleic diester and/or fumaric diester of the formula: R1-OOCCH=CHCOO-R2 (R1 and R2 are each a 1-15C alkyl, a cycloalkyl or the like), for example, dibutyl maleate and/or dibenzyl fumalate or the like; (C) (meth)allyl carbonate of the formula (R3 and R4 are each H, methyl; R5 is a divalent organic group; n is 1-10), for example, diethylene glycol bis(allyl carbonate) and (D) a radical chain transfer agent, for example, 2-phenyl-1-propene or the like.
