PURPOSE: A method and a tool for an abrasive machining of a substantially flat surface is provided to make the method simple and effectve. CONSTITUTION: The grinder comprises a basic body(1) on which are mounted several device(2) to form a smooth layer. The basic body(1) has active cooling, and the device(2) have a circular, circle-segment-shaped or polygonal outline and are comprised of cast metal with similar structural texture and hardness. The appliance is in the form of a grinding disc for use on disc-shaped workpieces.
