METHOD FOR RESTRICTING EXCESSIVE FLOODING DUE TO ADDRESS REGISTRATION OF UNSTABLE ATM TERMINAL IN ATM EXCHANGE

PURPOSE: A method for restricting excessive flooding due to address registration of an unstable ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) terminal in an ATM exchange is provided to detect an unstable terminal in the ATM exchange, so as to reduce loads and prevent the generation of change causes. CONSTITUTION: An ATM exchange registers an address of an ATM terminal through an ILMI(Interlim Local Management Interface). The ATM exchange checks whether the address of the ATM terminal registered in a table exists. If exists, an entry of a structure table is generated, to change a time last connected to the entry as a present time. Whether the changed present time is larger than a maximum tolerant time is checked. If larger, the last connected time is changed to (-1). The ATM exchange is decided to be a stable ATM terminal, to apply a PNNI(Private Network-Network Interface). If the changed present time is not larger than the maximum tolerant time, the ATM terminal is decided to be an unstable ATM terminal and waiting is performed until the ATM terminal is decided to be stable ATM terminal.
