1,137,748. Dyeing nitrogenous materials. CIBA Ltd. 4 Nov., 1966 [22 Nov., 1965], No. 49585/66. Heading D1B. Nitrogenous materials are dyed or printed by treating with an aqueous dye solution or dispersion having an acid content of 4-30% by weight of the preparation which contains a coacervating agent producing a two-phase system, the dyeing being finished by steaming without intermediate drying for 20 sees-10 mins in saturated steam at about 100‹C. Organis acids of up to 6 carbon atoms e.g. formic and acetic acids are particularly suitable and dyes used are acid, reactives, metallised and metalisable dyes. Wool, polyamides and polyacrylonitrile materials are dyed. As coacervating agents the following may be used, the reaction products of higher (C 7 -C 17 ) fatty acids with hydroxy-alkylamines and their adducts with ethylene oxide in particular the product obtained by reacting 1 mol of coconut oil fatty acid with 2 mols of diethanolamine, also used are the reaction products of fatty acids with N-substituted or unsubstituted amino acids or their salts. Further coacervating agents are adducts of ethylene oxide with higher fatty acids, higher aliphatic alcohols, alkyl phenols, higher alkylmercaptans or higher aliphatic amines. |
