<p>Disclosed herein is a biaxially oriented polyester film for a magnetic recording medium which has an excellent surface uniformity, which generated only a small number of scratches and only a small amount of abrasion dust and which has an excellent running property without wriggling running when it is manufacture into a magnetic tape, and which has improved slittability.</p>
