<p>The panels have smooth reinforced concrete layers on one or both surfaces backed by layers extended with fibres (natural) and/or expanded polystyrene beads. Pref. the extended layers are compressed and are laid up on either side of hollow core structures of 'formica' (paperboard laminates). The core layers are based on 350 kg cement and 1200 litres fibre or 600/600 litres of fibres/expanded polystyrene beads per m3. The densities of panels may be reduced by about 45% compared with solid concrete panels. The product are relatively light and are esp. used in tropical areas, the process being fast and economic.</p> |
