A process for producing a filter unit with a bellows and a plastic frame comprises placing the bellows (6) in an injection molding tool (3) and forming the plastic frame around it. The opposing tool surfaces have sawtooth-profiled edge sections which interlock and hold the individual folds of the bellows at a defined position relative to each other. The profiles press the narrow ends of the bellows together for the injection molding stage.
