The invention relates to a cutting device, for a machine for longitudinal separation of a through-flowing material band (23), which is mounted on a cutter bar (1), by means of a support body (3), in an axially-displaceable manner and comprises a circular blade (6), linked to the support body (3), by means of a bearing body (4). A drive motor (16) is attached to the bearing body (4), in the free-space beneath the support body (3), which cooperates with the circular blade (6), by means of a drive gear, whereby the drive motor (16) may be arranged offset to the drive motor (16) of an adjacent cutting device.
