Disclosed is a device for sealing the front edge of a neck (2) of a container (1) used for pouring purposes and made of plastic during the treatment of the inside surface (7) of said container (1). In order to enable the surface of the front edge of the neck (2) to remain untreated or devoid of any effect thereof using simple means, even when there is a difference in pressure during the treatment of the inside surface (7) of the container (1), a cover ring (5a) made of an elastic material with a cone-shaped (or optionally flat) sealing lip is maintained by a receiving element (6) arranged in a coaxial position thereto in such a way that the front edge can be pressed against the sealing lip with deformation thereof.
