PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognizing device capable of accurately performing an identity judgement of object images in images obtained by two image pickup devices with a relatively simple hardware configuration and also with a small quantity of calculation even though the difference of characteristics exists between the two image pickup devices. SOLUTION: This device extracts a correspondence pattern corresponding to a reference pattern including the object image in a reference image and also calculates the contrast value CR of the reference pattern and the contrast value CL of the correspondence pattern (S15 to S18). The device calculates the difference DC between the contrast values CR and CL as contrast difference, a component ERRDC which is included in a correlation value ERR calculated at a time when the correspondence pattern is extracted and corresponds to the contrast difference DC and decides matching as successful when a value obtained from subtracting a contrast difference component ERRDC from the value ERR is smaller than a prescribed threshold γ (S19 to S23). |
